Obtaining an Excess Flood Insurance Quote can give You Piece of Mind

Obtaining an Excess Flood Insurance Quote can give You Piece of Mind

Author: Mac Rousinburg

The price of flood insurance, and additionally flood insurance agencies, are regulated by the NFIP, or the National Flood Insurance Program. They process a lot of flood damage claims. Normally flood insurance is available from the company from which you obtain your homeowner's insurance, but if this type of policy is not available in your state, contact the NFIP. Unfortunately, if a major flood occurs, the insurance obtained through the NFIP will more than likely be insufficient. This is why you should have excess flood insurance.

Excess flood insurance covers you for more than the NFIP maximum amounts. Primary flood insurance available through the National Flood Insurance Program provides a maximum of $250,000 in coverage for your home, $100,000 for the contents, and $500,000 for businesses. This amount is sufficient to cover modular and single story homes, but it could be far more to insure a larger home. For a more costly home, $250,000 might help pay for minor flood damage, but would fall short of covering severe damage or total loss. For that reason, flood insurance over and above what is needed is sometimes bought.

Excess flood insurance insures you for higher than the NFIP maximums, and gives you enough to cover the price of rebuilding your home and replacing the contents. Normally you can purchase excess flood insurance from an excess and surplus carrier, but it may be available through some flood insurance companies that offer it to garner more business and to keep customers from seeking flood insurance elsewhere.

If you own real estate that has a higher value than the maximum amount provided by the National Flood Insurance Program, it is wise to obtain excess flood insurance. Any property located in a "flood zone" where flooding occurs frequently and/or is highly likely to occur, is eligible for excess flood insurance. If you have excess flood insurance, should a major flood occur, you will not have to worry about paying large amounts of money out of pocket. This can give you some peace of mind.

Downsizing During a Poor Economy

In the event that your household has been one of those impacted by the poor economy, my heart goes out to you. I'd like to offer some consolation, because I believe things will improve. This economic situation will turn around, and people will start making money once more. The secret to coping with your present circumstance is to look positively to the future.

Many folks will be relocating to smaller homes or apartment units to save money. Having less room in the house will require packing some things away. Holding a garage sale to get rid of things you no longer want is a terrific way to begin downsizing. All of us own clothing that we swear we'll fit in one day, or outdated kitchen appliances that are just taking up room.

Consider the long term when you’re downsizing. Don't throw out items you may wish you still had later on, or things you would ultimately have to replace. Selling your grandmothers silver tea service will bring in only a fraction of its worth and no amount of money will replace its sentimental value. Think about placing those possessions in storage. Make donations and try to sell anything you are willing to part with. Box up the remainder of your items for storage.

A number of methods exist for storing your belongings. Among the best is using a temperature-regulated storage building. This kind of storage space will keep your possessions safe from temperature extremes. This was the ideal answer for an acquaintance who owned thousands of dollars of hobby items and rubber stamps. An ordinary self-serve storage building would overheat in the summer months, warping the rubber stamps. This kind of unit is vulnerable to debris and pests as well. The temperature-regulated storage building preserved her items at an even temperature. This unit maintained her craft items nicely until she could use them again.

As you pack up your possessions to store them, take your time and do it carefully. You don't know how long your possessions will need to be stored, or if they'll be shipped to another state before getting unpacked. Packing properly from the start guarantees your possessions will be safe. Reminding yourself that the economy will soon turn around, will enable you to think ahead to when you can bring your treasures back home.

10 Job Search Tips for Your Teen

Not long ago, most Americans were employed; now many are looking for jobs. Recent news about the job market seems to be consistently grim. Adults and teens are now competing for the same few entry level jobs traditionally held by teenagers. If you’re a teen, don’t get discouraged; you still have an excellent chance in this job market. If you follow these guidelines, you'll land a job eventually.

1. Put together a resume and submit it with each job application. Get another person to check your resume for errors and possible improvements. Don't forget to use spell check and grammar check before sending it out.

2. Always demonstrate good manners when asking for an employment application and during the job interview itself. Pay attention to your appearance. Young men should wear a dress shirt and dress pants. Young women should dress appropriately and not wear too much makeup. Tattoos and body jewelry should be either covered up or removed.

3. Skip colognes and perfumes as many people have perfume allergies.

4. Show enthusiasm and make good eye contact throughout the interview process.

5. Keep your breath fresh and leave the gum at home.

6. Sit up straight rather than leaning back. Bad posture gives the impression that you're lazy or bored. Good posture demonstrates self-discipline. Try to keep your body still.

7. Get to the interview 15 minutes early. Travel time is unpredictable, so budget a little extra just in case. Be early and wait for the interview rather than missing an employment opportunity due to lateness.

8. Convey to the interviewer why your skills would work well for the company. Be confident, but don't let a big ego get the best of you.

9. Don’t use poor grammar or slang; it may give the interviewer the idea that you're uneducated.

10. To build confidence, conduct a mock interview where a friend or relative asks you questions likely to show up in the real interview.

Most of these suggestions are obvious, but they deserve to be mentioned anyway. Amazingly, many adults don't seem to realize these basic principles. Do your best to keep a positive attitude in this difficult job market, even if you don’t get the first few positions that you apply for. If you keep trying, you'll eventually secure a position. Here's to your success!

Why Custom Storage Sheds are the Best

In the event that you're thinking about buying an outside storage unit, you might be feeling confused by the numerous options available. You may be considering pre-fab sheds from your local home or garden store. But, have you ever thought about a custom built shed? This article will help you make your decision by explaining how the two options differ from each other.

Your initial consideration when purchasing an outside storage shed is what you intend to store inside and how big it will need to be. Should you only need room to store a small number of things like a lawn mower and garden tools, a pre-fabricated shed might be sufficient. However, if you have quite a few things to be stored, a custom shed might be a better choice. Pre-fabricated sheds are available in standard sizes only. A custom storage unit is built to suit you; the more you have to store, the larger shed you will want.

Since custom sheds are built 'from the ground up', you'll see that your new storage building is a better quality compared to a pre-fab type. Rather than an assembly line product, your custom shed is tailor made by skilled craftsmen. A custom shed is made to order and constructed right on your property, keeping in mind the dimensions and landscaping of your yard.

Unlike a shed that is ready made, a custom shed can have a variety of unique add on features. A custom shed may be built to coordinate with your home's finish and style, adding to its worth. Your storage building could have a stucco exterior or cement shingles, as well as rain spouts to help preserve the lifespan of your storage unit. Custom sheds for outside are available in many designs with a number of special features like windows, decks, and even patio doors. The inside can be finished so that the shed can be used as a pool cabana, an office, or a playhouse.

With the many advantages of a custom built shed, it's simple to understand why you would choose to buy one. Considering all they provide, custom made sheds are a better value and more practical than those that are pre-fabricated. Receiving superior construction on your custom shed guarantees it will remain sturdy and in perfect condition for many years to come.
